“I’ve known Bastiaan and Joey since we were young, from the village where we grew up!”
A spectacular form of motorsport
Autocrossteam Molenaar has been around for about thirty years. It once started with a ‘regular’ car and, over the years, developed into an increasingly professional presence in autocross. “We race with a lot of passion,” Hendrik explains. “It may be a smaller and lesser-known form of motorsport, but it is very spectacular!”
The races take place on temporary circuits, often laid out on grass or heathland. Hendrik: “Using earth banks and barriers, a compact track is created. It is usually oval, or has its own shape depending on the location. The races are held in various classes, from youth classes to heavier categories.”
“With Autocrossteam Molenaar, we race in the Sprint 1600 class. By now, I am the only driver in the team.” The races last around ten minutes and demand maximum concentration and commitment in that short time. “It’s full throttle,” says Hendrik. “Very explosive and intense: after a race, I’m completely exhausted!”
Hendrik: “Our sponsor relationship with Prospact came about through several different connections. I had known Bastiaan for a long time from Herwijnen, and I mainly got to know Joey through his wife’s gym, where I have been training for years.” He continues: “And through my work as an account manager at a car company, a business relationship also developed.”
The Process Translators have been driving lease cars from Hendrik’s former employer for years. “That is also how we started talking about the autocrossteam and sponsorship.” Today, Prospact is a familiar name on the car, clothing and other team materials.
Autocrossteam Molenaar competes frequently in the Benelux and values races in the home region, such as the recent one in Beesd, close to its base in Herwijnen. Hendrik: “Bastiaan always comes to watch then. That is great fun, and for him it is also a moment to meet other sponsors and do some networking.”
Hendrik knows Prospact as a dynamic and enthusiastic organisation with a positive internal atmosphere. “That is great to see. They are also always happy with our results and involved in what we do.” To him, the collaboration feels natural and more like a warm relationship than a strictly business arrangement.
Hendrik: “We make our agreements in an open and informal way, and that fits perfectly with how our relationship has grown over the years.” He concludes: “In fact, everything is a bit intertwined: the sponsorship, supplying the cars and the personal connection. That is precisely what makes it so enjoyable.”
For us, the sponsorship is more than name visibility. It is an example of local involvement, a personal connection and enthusiasm for the passion of Hendrik and his team!
