Since June 2nd, Marco van ’t Hullenaar has joined our team! His job title – Lead MES Software Engineer, he’s happy to explain what his role is all about.
In short: who is Marco, what drives him, and what makes his work with us so interesting?
Bridging the floor and the office
Marco has been working as a software engineer in industrial automation - since 2005. “In the past two years, I’ve been focusing as MES engineer more on bridging the gap between office IT systems and factory software”, he explains. “Think of production orders that come in digitally and are translated into real-time actions on the work floor.”
At Prospact, Marco works with AVEVA software on a technical level, but also plays a leading role: “As a lead engineer I guide colleagues and manage projects. That’s not new for me, but previously, project managers always handled that part. I really enjoy the direct responsibility and customer contact. It adds variety to my work.”
After fifteen years of working as a contractor, Marco was ready for a permanent position with a clearer long-term perspective. “I had worked with Prospact before, as a consultant, and the company atmosphere left a great impression. During my search for a new job, I came across Prospact again.” A mix of factors helped him decide. “At Prospact, I get the chance to learn and grow. The company truly invests in its people. For example, through its AVEVA partnerships, and that aligns perfectly with my drive to stay up to date and challenge myself.”
Marco’s onboarding went smoothly. “Everything was arranged: laptop, phone. You can tell new colleagues are well looked after.” The social culture makes a difference too. “We lunch together, talk every day. Everyone is approachable and open. It feels good.” The flat structure helps as well: “With just nineteen colleagues, it’s easy to navigate. At the same time, there’s ambition: we aim to grow to around thirty people. That creates opportunities and room to experiment.”
In his role as Lead MES Engineer, Marco sees lots of opportunities. “I want to grow further in combining technical expertise with project leadership. I enjoy mentoring younger colleagues. And because I also manage customer relations, I stay connected to the bigger picture.”
Marco is 41 and lives in Huissen with his wife and two daughters, aged eight and six. “The commute to Boxtel was something I considered; I had another job opportunity closer to home. But the nature of the work and the company culture won me over!” Thanks to flexible working hours, he’s able to strike a good balance between work and family life.
In his free time, Marco enjoys cycling: “A weekly ride, sometimes with a tour as sporty challenge.” He also brews beer as a hobby in his backyard under a patio roof: “There’s a lot to it: brewing is a craft!” And he enjoys a bit of DIY at home: “That’s a challenge too, with young kids and a partner who often works weekends.” Marco is also a fan of live music: “I have a broad taste in music, as long as it involves real instruments!”
With his experience, practical mindset and enthusiasm for both technology and teamwork, Marco is a great addition to our team. Welcome aboard, Marco!
